The Near-Sighted Monkey

This week Ryan Knighton will visit Lynda Barry’s “What It Is” class at the University of Washington-Madison. He’ll also be giving a talk called “The Blind Stare”. What does the inner eye see after ones outer eyes stop working?  The talk, sponsored by the University of Wisconsin’s Arts Institute, is free and open to the public. Chazen Museum, lower auditorium,  Wednesday, 4:30.

During his Madison stay Ryan Knighton will also be visiting neuroscientist, Aimee Arnoldnussen, to give the BrainPort vision device a try.  The device uses a camera mounted on a pair of sunglasses to translate a visual image into a 400 point tactile image presented on the tongue.
